Rosso di Montalcino DOC

Vigna Poggio Cerrino

SELECT VINTAGE

Description

Second to none.
Rosso di Montalcino is a wine of great importance, with a strong personality, representing a historical and emotional bond with Babbo Enzo, who supported its development in the 1970s. Considered until then a table wine, it obtained DOC recognition thanks to his efforts. This wine, made from the same grapes and techniques as Brunello, has a shorter aging period in Slavonian oak barrels and is marketed about 18 months after the harvest. Since 2022, it has been produced as a “cru” with grapes from the Poggio Cerrino vineyard.

Tasting notes

During the first tastings the main caratchereistics of this Rosso is withou any doubt the balance, togheter with its depth, structure and a particular freshness given by a rich acidity. We like to think that it is strictly related to what old vines give us especially in hot vintages: their roots infact, after many years, go quite deep in the soil where they find water and nutritious elements in a costant way. We truly suggest to drink it most of all in summertime at about 14°C temperature.
